Dr. Larry Tilger has been providing trusted, patient-first dentistry in the Houston area for over 30 years. As the founder of Tilger Center for Dentistry, he is known for combining surgical expertise with a calming, compassionate approach — helping patients of all backgrounds feel safe and cared for.
A respected leader in cosmetic, restorative, and implant dentistry, Dr. Tilger continues to shape the practice's philosophy today: high-quality care, advanced technology, and a personal connection with every patient.
Education & Clinical Background
Dr. Tilger grew up in Amarillo and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Baylor College of Dentistry, where he graduated as an Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Graduate. He has pursued extensive postdoctoral training throughout his career, especially in the areas of sedation dentistry and dental implants.
He is certified in both oral and IV sedation, having completed his anesthesia training at the University of Southern California, and received advanced implantology and prosthetic training from the Misch International Implant Institute.
He is also a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, a distinction recognizing his expertise in surgical implant placement and restoration.

Advanced Training & Areas of Focus
After relocating to Houston, Dr. Tilger provided dental care to active and retired military personnel through a contract with the Department of Defense. He went on to graduate from both the Advanced and Masters Programs at the Center for Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry (formerly The Baylor Aesthetic Continuum), where he continues to serve as teaching faculty.
He remains committed to ongoing education, having trained with many of the most respected names in dentistry — ensuring his techniques and treatment planning stay at the leading edge of patient care.

Beyond the Practice
Dr. Tilger has participated in dental mission trips both abroad and throughout Texas through faith-based organizations and the Texas Dental Association’s Mission of Mercy program — providing care to underserved and emergency patients.
Outside of dentistry, he enjoys spending time with his family, spoiling his granddaughters, traveling, and staying active in wildlife conservation projects.
